Weekend Game: February 10th-12th February: Shan Lung-Ji

posted Jan 1, 2012 5:57 PM by Erin Hockings

With the recovery of the Imperial Seal, many dangers have passed - but the vigilant samurai of the Jade Empire cannot become complacent. Rumours of strange creatures, hostile foreigners and Blackland movements in the Dragon Spine Mountains are worrying.

The Glacier Clan has discreetly requested personal assistance from our heroes, as they are known for their abilities and dedication to protecting the Empire. They need to investigate these threats to the peace of the Empire - and ensure that they do not have repercussions!

---

This game will run 10th-12th February 2012, at
Awhitu Environmental Camp, Hatton Road, Awhitu. Registrations, payments, and character updates close 5th February.

Remember, we've got a brand new set of rules - Version 3.0 - which we hope is the best yet! It can be found at the site (http://jadeempire.larp.co.nz/rules), along with a sample character sheet, and of course all the other resources to make your character the best possible! We'll be having a Character Creation Event in mid-January to help people plan and update their characters, and get excited for the game! (Yes, there is XP up for grabs!)

At the moment, I've got various people 'on the team' to help with the game, but I'd like to ask for volunteers for assisting with the game. If you think you can help - food preparation, transport (of people and/or gear), making props, budgeting, filing and organisation - anything - let me know by PM, email (jadeempire@larp.co.nz), or personally. :)

Costs will be the same as the last weekend game -
Players: $85 ($10 discount if paid before January 15th)
Crew: $40
Please PM or email for bank account details.

The heroes have been invited to attend Prince Huang Aoshi at the Imperial Palace in Oo-Miya-Huang, to celebrate and assist negotiations for his marriage to Tougen Lijuan. Please use the existing 2.1 ruleset for character creation and update.

Please RSVP on jadeempire@larp.co.nz, or if there are any queries, and don't forget, the Forums are open to anyone, even if you can't attend!

Weekend Game: March 11th-13th 2011: Qiū Cháo (Autumn Tides)

posted Jan 10, 2011 12:58 PM by Erin Hockings   [ updated Feb 28, 2011 2:48 PM by Jade Empire ]

Jade Empire: Qiū Cháo (Autumn Tides)

The River of Heaven flows, across the dark sky it pours;
Thus do I pour my longing, desires and deepest dream;
I hope that the autumn tides, may carry them to the gods.

Autumn is a time of changes, a time of consideration and contemplation, for completion of things before the dark of winter. The Lotus Han Lord, Lian Nobuko, is in retreat at one of her private estates. However, this is not simply a contemplative retreat, as Clans have been asked to send their best and brightest young women; there are rumours of a marriage for an up-and-coming courtier, a close relative of the Han Lord. However, there is danger - Black Land raids and ninja strikes have been reported close to the private estate.

The heroes will encounter new challenges, new foes, and new choices that will affect the whole Empire...

This game will run Friday 11th to Sunday 13th of March, 2011 at Awhitu Environmental Camp (Hatton Road, Awhitu, Auckland). Registrations, payments, and character updates close 4th March.

Costs
Players: $85 ($10 discount if paid before February 15th)
Crew: $40
Please email for bank account details.
Also, if you pay before the February 15th date, there is the chance to win a LARP polearm made by Derek Tomes, which will be drawn on Friday night!

Daygame: Saturday 26th June: Kogarashi-Ta

posted May 19, 2010 4:31 AM by Jade Empire   [ updated May 19, 2010 4:40 AM ]

Kogarashi-Ta
Date: 26 June
Time: 1200 (crew to arrive 1100, please)
Location: Outhwaite Park, 25 Carlton Gore Road, Grafton
Cost: $15 players, $5 crew

Kogarashi-Ta, the Tower of the Withering Wind, is one of many small outposts along the Jade Wall, near Shiro Meiyo (Honour Castle). Here in the rolling foothills of the Black Flower Hills, a force of Blacklanders disappeared over the Wall, losing their pursuers. Frustrated, the samurai camped by the outpost, accepting the hospitality of the commander.
But Kogarashi-Ta is not all that it seems...

There is a cost involved, but this is just to cover the cost of the hall and nibbles that will be provided. Let me know if you're coming, either as player or crew, at jadeempire@larp.co.nz.

A roleplaying thread is open in the Jade Empire Forums here, as wrapup for last game and establishing for this game... special clues and details may turn up! Don't forget, to forum is open for everyone, even if you can't play in the LARP!

Jade Empire at Battlecry!

posted Jan 3, 2010 4:07 PM by Erin Hockings   [ updated Jan 3, 2010 4:19 PM ]

Run by the AMERICA Club, Battlecry is Auckland’s largest all-round weekend gaming convention. On hand will be all manner of roleplaying, wargaming, cardgaming, and live-action tournaments and events, as well as a collection of stalls and displays of gaming materials. We welcome all comers, from experienced gamers to those of you out there that are merely curious as to what it is all about.

Running on Saturday afternoon, Jade Empire: The Rescue of Ue-Hori is part of the ongoing campaign, and will feature an equal balance of combat and roleplaying. In the heart of Mountain Han (Province), a village has been wiped out by a force from the evil Black Land. A Mountain Clan messenger reached Yamakuro Palace with the terrible news, calling for urgent aid. All samurai nearby have answered the call, riding out to remove the taint of the Black Land from the Empire. You have arrived at the village of Ue-Hori, ready to strike at the forces of the Black Land and save the village.

People will be able to bring their current characters, but there will pregen characters for those who don’t have them or want them. Crew are required.

Jade Empire at Chimera!

posted Jul 6, 2009 1:34 AM by Erin Hockings

Jade Empire will be at 2009's Chimera LARP Convention!

Running on Saturday afternoon, Jade Empire: Uchikake is an indoors scenario set at the Winter Court of the Tundra Clan. A beautiful young courtier of the Tundra is to be married to a bushi of the Pine Clan. The night before the wedding, she is attacked as she meditates before her uchikake - her wedding kimono. The attacker leaves no traces but the bruise on her face, the crumpled uchikake, and the bride’s tanto, embedded in the kimono frame. There are whispers of the evil of the Black Land, and horrible curses. The Imperial Magistrates can find nothing.
It is up to you to find out who did it, repair the disgrace to the Tundra and Pine Clans, and make sure that the wedding goes ahead…

Chimera has a lot of other great games to offer, so check it out!
